Looking for fresh, local produce? Interested in trading recipes with other Jewish foodies? Would you like to know your farmer? Join Shulchan Yarok, a CSA for the Jewish community! Shulchan Yarok translates to “Green Table, and yarok can also be translated as “vegetables”. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, where CSA members purchase a seasonal share in a local farm, and enjoy a box of locally grown, fresh picked produce every week! The CSA guarantees the farmer a secure market and gives members access to fresh, local sustainably grown produce at competitive prices, all while helping preserve farmland and build community.

Shulchan Yarok aims to build a community in Dayton where Jews from across the spectrum can gather around food sustainability and environmental issues. Shulchan Yarok will help put Jewish purchasing power behind local farms, and bring healthy, locally grown food into Jewish homes. A Jewish CSA also focuses on Tzedakah. Shulchan Yarok will be purchasing a share and donating it to the local food bank, and members will have the opportunity to donate extra produce as well.

Joining Shulchan Yarok will give you a chance to schmooze with other CSA members, and enjoy great food, all while supporting a local farmer. Meet other foodies and environmentalists in the Jewish community, nosh at special tastings and share recipes, enjoy delicious produce picked the same day as delivery, purchase kosher challah, use the fragrant herbs in your box for havdallah, chances to meet your farmer and visit the farm, weekly newsletter with notes from the farm, recipes and d’vrei Torah!

Weekly pick ups will take place Thursdays at the JCC from 4-5:30pm, starting June 8. The season is 20 weeks long (until October 19).
All produce will come from Grim Farm in Arcanum, Ohio. Produce will include vegetables such as lettuces, kale, chard, peas, onions, green beans, cauliflower, broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, summer squash, garlic, leeks, potatoes, peppers, sweet corn and so much more!
Our 2017 Season Membership is $375 (approximately $18 per week) and includes 5-6 items each week. Registration deadline is Friday, July 21. You may add a dozen locally raised eggs to your CSA box for an additional $3.50/a week. Kosher challah and other baked goods will also be for sale at each pickup.
