Making an impact
Celebrated historian and highly respected author and scholar, Dr. Lipstadt joins us this spring for our third consecutive Presidents Dinner as keynote speaker on May 7. Her day in court with Holocaust denier David Irving resulting in her victory was recently portrayed in the critically acclaimed film, Denial, bringing her heroism to the silver screen. A steadfast proponent of vibrant Jewish life and culture, Dr. Lipstadt stands as a beacon of strength and truth in a time of anti-Semitic resurgence.
Lipstadt’s numerous credentials include being the Dorot Professor of Modern Jewish and Holocaust Studies at Atlanta’s Emory University, was an historical consultant to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum; appointed by President Clinton to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council, serving two terms; was a member of its Executive Committee of the Council and chaired the Educational Committee and Academic Committee of the Holocaust Museum. She has also been called upon by members of the United States Congress to consult on political responses to Holocaust denial and from 1996 through 1999 served as a member of the United States State Department Advisory Committee on Religious Freedom Abroad, advising Secretary of State Madeline Albright on matters of religious persecution abroad.
