Beth Jacob Active Shooter Training

Active Shooter response training will be provided by Sahara Global Security Instructor, Columbus Police Detective (ret.), and former Counter Terrorism Unit member, Patrick Seaman.The training will occur at the synagogue and will train a max of 25 people. The training will prepare members of Beth Jacob on the “Run, Hide, Fight” method. The class consists of classroom instruction to include a 20-minute video followed by a group discussion. The discussion will provide sensitive insights to real world active shooter incidents that have occurred in the US and abroad.

The instructor will also analyze possible active shooter scenarios tailored to the synagogue itself. This analysis will include likely avenues of approach and egress options for synagogue members. The training will provide a site security assessment and recommendations on how to respond to an active shooter incident. There will be one scenario role played to inoculate the students to the stress and physiological responses expected to occur during an active shooter incident. The training will also provide recommendations on resources and emergency medical supplies (Stop the Bleed kits). Tourniquets will be provided and minimal training in the use of tourniquets will also be provided.
