The mission of the Dayton Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) is to ensure the growth, resilience, and safety of the Jewish people in our community and nation, Israel, and throughout the world. The JCRC works in collaboration with the greater Dayton community to foster cultural humility and advocate for a just, democratic, and pluralistic mosaic society.

Jewish holidays are central to Jewish life, bringing meaning, tradition, and community connection throughout the year. They often include time for prayer, family gatherings, and cultural practices that may affect school, work, and community schedules. By recognizing these observances, schools, workplaces, and public institutions can help ensure that Jewish community members feel respected and included.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Dayton and our community stand in unwavering solidarity with Israel. Following the tragic events of October 7, 2023, and in the months since, we have rallied together to provide support, advocacy, and resources. Standing with Israel means affirming our deep connection to the people of Israel, offering humanitarian aid, educating our community, and speaking out against hatred and violence. Through this commitment, we strengthen the bond between Dayton and Israel, ensuring that our community remains a strong partner in times of both crisis and hope.

Dayton’s Sister City relationship with Holon, Israel, fosters mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and community connection. This long-standing partnership celebrates the ties between our two cities and strengthens the global Jewish peoplehood. Programs and exchanges with Holon provide opportunities for dialogue, learning, and friendship that enrich both communities.
We work to combat antisemitism by raising awareness, providing education, and building strong partnerships across the Miami Valley. We collaborate with national organizations, local leaders, schools, and faith communities to confront prejudice and ensure that Jewish community members feel safe and supported.

Through advocacy and education, we ensure that the Jewish community has a voice in shaping fair and just public policy. We engage with elected officials, civic partners, and interfaith leaders to promote security, inclusivity, and the values of democracy. We partner with Ohio Jewish Communities (OJC), which represents Jewish Federations across the state at the Ohio Statehouse. OJC advocates on behalf of the Jewish community to ensure security funding, promote religious freedom, and strengthen Ohio’s ties with Israel. Through OJC, we participate in both planned and emergency fly-ins to Washington, D.C., as well as biannual advocacy days at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus, ensuring our community has a strong voice at both the state and federal levels.

Supporting Jewish students and families has always been a priority for our community. Ensuring that school staff, faculty, and administrators understand Jewish holidays, traditions, and concerns helps create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
Since the tragic events of October 7, 2023, campuses of all kinds — from K–12 schools to colleges and universities — have been profoundly impacted. Jewish students and families face new challenges, including increased antisemitism, isolation, and the need for greater understanding from peers and educators. By equipping schools with resources and information, we can work together to ensure safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environments.
