The How and Why of Writing Sifrei Torah

Shel Bassel received his first Kabbalt Sofrim (certification as a scribe) from Chaim Kess in Jerusalem. Since then, he has written more than two dozen Torah scrolls. This program will be an overview of how a Torah scroll is written. Mr. Bassel will be speaking about the basic materials (ink, parchment, quill) and how the scrolls are made. He will demonstrate how a quill is cut and show how some of the letters are formed as well as other aspects of the Torah making process.  This event is free.
