In this riveting historical drama, Nelson Mandela and his inner circle of Black and Jewish supporters face a possible death sentence for conspiracy to commit sabotage during a raid in the South African town of Riviona. Bram Fischer, a sympathetic lawyer, risks his career and freedom to defend Mandela and his supporters. An Act of Defiance captures the dark period of South Africa’s history – Apartheid, while skillfully balancing a nail-biting political thriller.

Guest Speaker – Jim Levinson
Jim Levinson is a native Daytonian who married Meredith Moss at Temple Israel. After graduating from Brandeis University, he travelled to Africa and later served as a regional director of the Ohio Civil Rights commission. Jim later spent 26 years as a criminal prosecutor as well as 7 1/2 years in private practice, including the defense of civil rights complaints.
