Recipes from Auschwitz: The Survival Stories of Two Hungarian Jews
with Author Alex Sternberg
No cost, RSVP required.
Written by Dr. Alex Sternberg, Recipes from Auschwitz relates the story of his parents, Olga and Marton, honoring a promise to his mother that he would write about her youth in Hungary, her experiences in Auschwitz and Ravensbrück and her postwar life. His father is also from Hungary, so Sternberg weaves their stories together, and through the family’s journey, offers insights into the Hungarian Jewish community before, during, and after its destruction.
Dr. Sternberg will be joined in our discussion by Dr. Zoltán Háberman, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Social Science and Social Work at the Jewish Theological Seminary-University of Jewish Studies.
This event is in partnership with the JCC of Greater Dayton, the Jewish Book Council, and Partnership2Gether Western Galilee
