Theo Bikel’s The City of Light
10 March 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Based on a short story written by Theo Bikel a year before his passing, and expanded into a book by his wife and partner Aimee Ginsburg Bikel, The City Of Light tells of young Theo’s childhood in Vienna and the events leading to his family’s escape after the Anschluss. The book touches on topics which have become, in 2020,more pressing than Theo could have ever imagined when he wrote his short story:our moral obligation for Tikkun olam and to speak up in the face of bigotry and hatred to love our neighbor and the stranger among us as ourselves, to honor and respect our elders, and to learn from the past.
Join us for a reading from the book and a discussion of Theodore Bikel’s legacy with author Aimee Ginsburg Bikel. $5/person for the event, book available for $16 at the event.
